Myslef and Kim Waugh are the 1st Gosforth Cub Scout Leaders and we have our meetings on Monday nights from 5.30 till 7 p.m. at Gosforth Scout Hut. Cubs are from 8 to 10 years old and on a typical night we play some games and then some work to gain activity badges or Challenge badges. Some of the Activity Badges that have been gained are Artist, Athletics, Book Reader, Entertainer, Equaestrian and Scientist.

The Outdoor, Creative and Caring Challenges have been gained and one Cub was awarded the Chief Scout's Silver Award.

A few weeks ago the Cubs took part in the Cubs County five-a-side football tournament and won.

At the present time we are working on the Air Activities Badge and part of it is to visit an airfield or air museum so a trip is being planned to go to Carlisle Airport and Aviation Museum.

If anyone is interested in joining our Pack please telephone 01946 825873 or come and visit us

My name is Lize Krottje, and I've been a visitor to Gosforth in 1976, 1977, and 1978 (I think). I first came with a rugby team from Holland, called Greate Pier, and we stayed for a weekend.

In that weekend I met John and Julie Temple. His parents were the owners of caravansite Seven Acres.

We became friends and I've stayed with them a few holidays.

I have such wonderful memories of Gosforth, its surroundings and the people.

So when I saw your site I was so glad...I love the pictures!!! They bring back so many lovely memories.

I'm still planning to go back one day, maybe with my children. I hope we will, because I love your country and I want to show my kids why.

I would just like to say what a fine site this is (gosforthvillage). I have done a few races at Gosforth but this is the first time I have viewed the results on the web. The atmosphere is always good and the crowds and organisation (of the Gosforth 10) do help, congratulations to you all on a job well done. I think some larger towns, cities and villages should take a leaf from your community spirit. Hope to see you all again for the 10k.

I think you have done a good job (with the website) although I think some photos of the village and surrounding areas would make it more interesting. You could also include some local history; I'm sure there are plenty of locals that could provide you with some interesting information.

Hi Mel , it was great to see the site, the picture from the hill looks good but it is a lovely sunny day which as we all know just isn't always a fair reflection of Gosforth. Also I see the site doesn't mention the two old relics that can be found on Ellerslie Park!! Hope to move back home one day and if I manage to shift around 4 stone I may attempt to recapture my Gosforth 10 title. Keep up the good work, Toby

It was quite fun being from Gosforth; seeing that is going on there now. It listed most things happening in and around Gosforth. Some more pictures of Gosforth itself would be good - I was trying to show my colleagues what it looks like
